XXI° EUROPEAN FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP
21st-27th September 2015

21st fips-mouche EUROPEAN FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP

The FIPS Mouche has chosen Italy, and more precisely Trentino, for its 21st edition of the FIPS-Mouche European Fly Fishing Championship.
In the heart of the Alps, in an exceptional environment where nature is the protagonist, and with over 2000km of water streams, almost 300 lakes and alpine lakes, over 800 sq.Km of natural parks, Trentino is ready to welcome fishermen from all over Europe.

The Sarca river (and the lake of Nembia) - located south-west of the region - will be the main settings for the international fishing contest. The Terme di Comano has been selected as head quarter of the Championship, lovely thermal location facing the Sarca river and reign of the marble trouts as well as many other fish species. 5 million trees, 12 thousand hectares of woods and 5 thousand of grazing land, 2 Unesco heritages (the Dolomites of the Brenta and the pile-dwelling site of Fiavè), Reserve of Biosphere Unesco: these are the numbers of the Comano ValleSalus.
Renowned as a health centre for the skin of adults and children, thanks to its precious thermal waters, the location has also become a benchmark for activities such as mountain trekking, mountain bike, climbing and fishing. The offers presented here are always matching the expectations of the most passionate sportsmen and women.

The Terme di Comano therefore welcome all fly fishing aficionados for the whole duration of the season, as well as from the 21st-27th September - dates of the Championship.

The Marble Trout

Salmo Marmoratus, the most beautiful and wild of trouts, lives in the Sarca river and up to the late ‘70s it was the unquestionable queen. The most favourite habitat is the middle-upper trait of stream flows with higher carriage levels of water, filled with hiding escapes and deep holes, right down to the area of the Fario trout. It can be easily mistaken for other species, including the Fario trout. To recognise it among others, the marble trout has grey, irregular sinuous lines along its back...

Event

21st FIPS-MOUCHE European Fly Fishing Championship

From the 21st September to the 27th September 2015, the program will be embraced by the beautiful sceneries of the Dolomites of the Brenta and Adamello, from where the Sarca river is born. 4 contest fields along the river and one in the little Alpine lake Nembia, where European contesters coming from 20 different countries will be competing in the art of fly fishing. It is a technique that requires high level of competence as well as sophisticated equipment, often handmade by the fisherman himself, who pays attention to the morphology of the insects naturally present in the vicinity of the water streams at a particular time. The technique requires the catch and immediate release of the prey, right after the judge verifies the length of the fish. The last edition of the Championship was held in Sweden.

Greetings from Dr Ugo Rossi, President of the Autonomous, the Councillor Dallapiccola and Councillor Mellarini

Fishing sections

The 21st FIPS-Mouche European Fly Fishing Championship will be held along the Sarca river, which comes from the glaciers of the Adamello and flows into Lake Garda, from where it exits with the name of Mincio. 77km separate the spring from the lake.
The Championship contests will take place on 4 different sections along the higher level of the Sarca river: in Val Genova, in the area around Pinzolo, in the neighbouring areas of Tione di Trento and in Terme di Comano/Ponte Arche. The fifth section will be the Lake of Nembia.
Every athlete will have at his/her disposal around 200 metres of river for each of the five contests, always with section rotation.
